Rock music during 80' and 90' is one of the biggest phenomena in the world. This entries to show rock band during the 80' and 90' but not the rock band in the world but the rock band in Malaysia that gave many influence or inspiration to new generation of rock band.
1. SEARCH. Popular with song such as Isabella (won the AJL 89), pawana, pelesit kota, gadisku, fantasia bulan madu and etc. This band famous with the unique voice of their vocalist Amy Search
2. WINGS. Popular wing song Sejati, Nur Nilam Sari, Taman rashidah Utama, Intan ku kesepian and etc. Popular with their superb performance on stage include their guitarist Joe and their vocalist Awie
3. MAY. Know with high pitch vocalist Mus give the big impact to the band. Their Drummer also best know as one of best drummer in Malaysia. Popular with song cintamu mekar di hati, sendiri, sinar, genggam bara and etc
4. MEGA. Original singer Zarith bring the group to the final AJL 1990 final with the song sekuntum bunga sakura. Then he was replace with Rahmat due to uncertain reason. Then the band won the upcoming year AJL 1991 with the song takdir & waktu. Other song the band well known are bayangan gurauan, mainan sepi, pasti, nina karina and etc.

5. SYJ. One of the biggest influence in rock music in malaysia until now. SYJ is band from Ipoh. the band active from 1983 to 1990. The line up of the band is usually changes but still get a good respond from the fan. Popular with song orang timur, bunga padang pasir, godaan syaitan, anak liar, suratan perpisahan and etc. Even the band already disband almost 25 years but their song still been used as cover for new generation of rock band. Salute!!!
There are still many old rock band gave influence to our rock music nowadays. Even some people think rock gave bad influence to youngster because when we talk about rock many relates rock to drug abuse,social gigs and many more but not all the rock band gave bad influence to the youngster. We just take the positive things that what they contribute to our local music industry. Without them maybe our music industry can't achieve for what we are achieve now.
